Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who use a wide range of cookery skills. They use discretion and judgement and have a sound knowledge of kitchen operations. They work with some independence and under limited supervision and may provide operational advice and support to team members. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a commercial cook in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent .
- IELTS Test Score of 5.5.
- PTE academic score of 42.
- Be 18 years of age or over.

He trained at the prestigious Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in Austria and then spent the next 10 years in Europe honing his skills both as a Chef and Operations Manager. He then moved to Canberra and opened a highly successful, award winning restaurant which he ran for 25 years. Combining his passion for cooking and love of teaching and sharing his skills with others, he decided to open JP International College in 2007 with the view of empowering students for international careers.
At JPIC, the combination of quality academic teaching, practical training within a personalized and supportive environment is our recipe for success. The individual approach we take with our students gives them the best chance of securing their dream role on graduation! We have graduates working in 5 star restaurants in Canberra whilst others are branching out to open their own restaurants in their home countries, Canberra and further afield in Australia.
